rainshowers to the promised land

rainshowers to the promised land
collage, watercolor, & ink on paper
11 x 8.5 inches

in a note to nylon:

This is a fashion fantasy collage inspired by the kind of summer showers that make you want to dance and jump in puddles in the rain...and what better way to frolic than in a flowery purple tutu and striped blue and black tights!

Oh Lucy it's summer

it's summerrrrrrrrrrr! at last! A time for color, sunshine, and summer loving. A time to finally wear chiffon dresses and silky skirts and not be surrounded by black and gray and beige wool (blehhhh). When I'm at my boredest (aka riding the subway & bus or walking on the upper east side) I think of lucy in the sky with diamonds from Yellow Submarine dancing and kicking and gliding away. Summer also makes me want to not do anything but sit in the park and blow bubbles, but alas, things must get done. So here she is with a couple of her friends from back in the day and some new ones, click on here to see the full costume color parade. I love it!

lucy in her feather boa wig concoction...

la la la, flowers and bodypaint. almost makes me want to get a tattoo, but I'm too for that permanent ink stuff.
hmm...sounds interesting, but I just like the picture.

she likes beads too...

dolly girls with butterflies & people running through the woods with galloping bunnies!?! sequel to Lucy?

oh my! really, i'm too young to know, so I'll just think about all the good stuff.

Though she's not quite from the summer of love, I love Ms. Moldy Doily, Kime Buzzelli. She's got the spirit and she can moldy up my doily any time. The first time I saw her was in Lula Magazine, and since then I've been seeing her rainbow sprinkles here and there. Won't you bring your pony show to New York? I suppose it's too dark and serious here. But you can check her out at She's la la la la lovely.

La, la, la, la, la

la, la, la... sweet milke loves sweet tunes. It's "Christmas on Earth Revisited"!
It looks like mr. rubber ducky (or ms., since ducky is wonderfully ambiguous) was wandering through the park one day and stumbled upon something mighty special. From far away, it looked like something soft and blue and fuzzy. What could it be? Was it Grover from Sesame Street? Thing one? or Thing two? Well, whatever it was, mistermisses ducky didn't care. It was love at first sight. And thus, this is the music that ensued.
Frankly, I don't know if that is the interpretation that I should take, but I don't care and it just about makes sense perfect sense, to me at least. It's an other worldly kind of atmosphere. It's somewhat recognizeable, but totally a thing of it's own. And a good song is hard to find, but there's no doubt these boys are quite fabulous, so sweet milke is singing spring on with the march fourth (though waiting anxiously for "Christmas on Earth Revisited", which should hopefully be coming around the bend).
ooh baby, it's fabulous!
